Pathetic Excuse for a Debate. (Shoot me.)

I had an argument with myself today over colour.


Toward the beginning of the year, I learned that when you mix pigmented colours together, they create black. However, when you mix the colours of light together, they create white.

Now I began to talk to myself because I know that white reflects light and black absorbs light, thus giving it the term 'devoid of colour'. But I still stand by my pigment statement. We all know white is a colour, but why isn't black considered one as well?

In fact, why is white a colour? When a person grows pale, they lose the colour in their skin and blanch-- or turn white.

Enough of that rubbish. Here's my debate. (Though it won't last long seeing as how I'm a stupid kid.)

Should Black and White be considered colours based on your knowledge and mine?

(I'm too un-biased and I blew out my brain. So I have no argument ready.)

I thought white wasn't considered a color? Hmm. Anyway, I don't think either should be considered a color as far as science (light rays and whatnot) is concerned. But I think as far as general usage goes, calling them colors is fine.

Well Light isnt a color, and black is the absence of wavelengths bounded off a object that are within the visual spectrom of visable electromagetic radation.

Though considering intreption of wavelengths of electromagetic energy creates what we consider colors, why not the absence of wavelengths be considered a color?

Anyway Dont call yourself stupid Papillon, the only thing stupid is your esteem which seems to match mine, give your self a chance, I mean great theories have always been proven either incorrect or inadequte from time to time based on new inductive infomation available, that wasnt available at the time.

For something to be a colour there must be light present, so I don't really think of black as a colour. As for white? Well...I'm still debating with myself on that one.
