So I work at AMC, the movie theater near my house and I get to see all the free movies I want. Recently I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It was pretty good story-wise, really creepy otherwise. Johnny Depp is extremely disturbing, like he was on drugs every day of his childhood and now has 3 braincells left. It has a lot of backstory that the original didn't which makes the actual story better. The oompa loompa's are still weird, but the songs are soooooooooooooooooooooo much better in this one. Enjoy!

Bah. I'll never go and see this. The original will win no matter what. So many people say it's good, but that's crap. This movie should have never been remade. My opinion.

My opinion. - nweasel Okay, that's a really stupid reason not to see a good film. It's not even technically a remake. If the original never existed they still would have made this movie. Because it's an adaption of the book (the original movie was not a very faithful adaption), not a remake of the original film. And it does a lot to distinguish itself from the first movie. I loved them both. They're both excellent. It's not a contest. So they're based on the same book. Same characters (though the two Wonkas are extremely different), same story, some of the same situations. That doesn't mean you have to make it a contest and compare the two. You could just see it and appreciate for what it is -- a great movie. It doesn't replace the original as the timeless classic that it is, but it wasn't supposed to. It's just supposed to be a reimagining of the book, and it does that to perfection.

I really don't want to see the new version...I liked the old one so I'm never going to see the new one. ... Like I said, worst reasoning everBut hey, deny yourself a good movie all you want. o.o More for me? Wait that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. But really, so a good movie is "remade" (even though, like I said, this isn't a remake)... that immediately means that you shouldn't see it? Bull. If the remake is good, and the original good, then you have two good movies! And if the new one does a lot to distinguish itself from the remake... then all the better, right? Every single person I know who's seen it LOVES the original and still does just as much as they did before -- but they also like/love this one as well. I think the only legitimate reason for not seeing it is that you hated the book. Or if you hate good movies. That works too.

See, that's why you should all live in Minnesota so I can take you to free movies ;D Honestly I work for AMC and get myself in and one non-related person in free at a time. Food still full price though... but my theater lets you bring anything you want in! like McDonald's and Subway and junk like that! ;D

It's not a bad reason. I personally think they are destroying a classic. Mr. Depp is one strange dude.
As said on the Daily Show...Willey Wonka has been aquitted of all charges. (When he has on those ridiculus white glasses.) I agree they made Wonka look like a freak.

Not really. If you see the movie it gives reason to why he was weird.
Dont assume stuff from just the previews of him acting strange =\
