Yea it's very dark for a kids film, but so are all Tim Burton movies. It's still really good though.
And yes, Subway makes 6 foot subs for parties and things. Or was it 12... maybe they make both idk. They're not as good as the smaller ones but still good for a large party.

I like Subway... you don't ingest 200 gallons of grease in one bite and it tastes good. I like ham sandwiches.

It's not a bad reason. I personally think they are destroying a classic. Mr. Depp is one strange dude. As said on the Daily Show...Willey Wonka has been aquitted of all charges. (When he has on those ridiculus white glasses.) I agree they made Wonka look like a freak. How are they destroying it?! It isn't even a real remake! There have been lots of remakes that were way worse than the originals -- but it doesn't tarnish the original in any way. I still love watching The Nutty Professor just as much as I did before the crappy remake came out. How can you even say they're destroying it when you haven't seen it? The mere fact that they decided to readapt the book makes the old one suffer? Bull. It's a terrible reason not to see a GOOD film. The man who wrote the screenplay for this one had never even seen the original movie until after he was done. And of course Wonka is weird. He's ALWAYS been weird. He was weird in the original too, albeit in a different way. He's weird in both books and both movies. Honestly I don't think this version was darker. I was expecting it to be, but it really wasn't.

Neither of the films were that faithful to the original story. However, CATCF was highly rated in Kerrang! and Johnny Depp = Mmmm so I'm going to see it. CHOCOLATE COVERED JOHNNY DEPP!!

When I went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I will admit it did have its moments, but not even Deppy's timid version of Willy Wonka will replace the monotone reactions of the original Willy Wonka.
"No. Stop. Don't do it." *sighs and reads magazine*
And none of you had the cute little kid who tripped down the left aisle and landed flat on her face. Priceless, I say.

Neither of the films were that faithful to the original story. However, CATCF was highly rated in Kerrang! and Johnny Depp = Mmmm so I'm going to see it. CHOCOLATE COVERED JOHNNY DEPP!! The newer one was more faithful though (it had the original Oompa Loompa songs and the squirrels and things). It was pretty faithful all things considered. Sure, they added in the scenes with his dad, but like someone pointed out earlier... those added to the film more than taking away anything from it. When I went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I will admit it did have its moments, but not even Deppy's timid version of Willy Wonka will replace the monotone reactions of the original Willy Wonka. "No. Stop. Don't do it." *sighs and reads magazine* And none of you had the cute little kid who tripped down the left aisle and landed flat on her face. Priceless, I say. I loved both portrayals of Wonka. The "No. Stop. Don't do it." is my favorite scene from the original. But I also just love the disgusted reactions Depp had to the children. He was just so... mean! It was awesome. "I was never that short!" "Yes you were! You had to have been at some point" "No, because I distinctly remember wearing a hat. Look at your arms! You probably couldn't even reach!" That reminds me... the only thing I didn't like about Charlie & The Chocolate Factory... Mike TV. I mean, I think ALL the kids in this movie were more annoying (except Charlie of course) than they were in the original... which makes sense and is great, but holy crap... I just don't think they portrayed him very well. For someone with the nickname Mike TV they didn't really... emphasize his love of TV. He just acted like a stupid, stereotypical angry pre-teen. Whoo.

How can you say it's not a remake...and I think remakes aren't the problem...sequels are the problem...Jarrasic Park is a good example. But this is a remake (and some remakes really suck.)

How can you say it's not a remake...and I think remakes aren't the problem...sequels are the problem...Jarrasic Park is a good example. But this is a remake (and some remakes really suck.) Because it's NOT. The person who wrote the script had never even seen the movie! It's a new adaptation of the book. If the original had not been made they still would have made this one just the way it was. It doesn't have the same songs or things that the old movie added... they took the book, wrote the script from THAT and not the old movie. The definition of a remake is to take an old movie, rewrite the script, and redo the whole thing. They took the book, turned that into a script (with some additions of course) and shot it. I don't know how many times I can say this. I don't think sequels or remakes are "the problem". There are really, really bad remakes AND sequels out there -- and there are also really good ones. You say Jurassic Park 2, I say Empire Strikes Back. It just depends.
